If you need assistance outside these hours, call the 24-hour Assaulted Women’s Helpline here 416.863.0511.
If you’re unsure whether intervention is needed, that’s okay. We can help you understand the signs and decide on safe next steps.
We’re here to help you support a loved one or friend you’re concerned about, whether they’re experiencing abuse or at risk of being abused. You can reach out through chat, call/text, or email. Everything is confidential and free.
To protect your safety and privacy we will not respond to texts or calls sent after hours. Please get in touch during our hours which are Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 10:00am – 2:00pm Tuesday, Thursday: 4:30pm – 8:30pm
When you reach out, you’ll be connected to a trained professional who can help you navigate this difficult situation. They understand how challenging it is to watch someone you care about potentially experiencing violence.
We’ll work with you to:
– Understand what you’re observing
– Assess safety concerns – theirs and yours
– Plan safe ways to offer support
– Practice what to say (and what to avoid)
– Support you in setting healthy boundaries
– Know when and how to connect them to professional help
You don’t need to be certain abuse is happening to contact us. We’ll help you think through your concerns without judgment. Remember: you can’t control their choices, but you can be a safe person in their life. Being a supportive presence is powerful, even when you can’t fix everything.
Thank you for reaching out – we know that it can be difficult to ask for support.
We are currently unavailable, as we are closed today for staff training, but we will be back tomorrow.
If this is an emergency, call 911 for immediate assistance.
